New Orleans Short Term Rentals Vote Explained

Back in 2017, when we were electing a new City Council and Mayor, short term rentals, and their effect on affordable housing in our community, were a hot topic. Most of the New Orleans City Councilmembers made campaign promises to make the issue a top priority, and earlier this month, they took some action.

Personally, I believe short term rentals are an existential issue for our city, and an urgent issue for the Council. I’m happy to see them taking responsibility and working together to find solutions that both protect private property rights and preserve the integrity of our neighborhoods.
